Northwest Scholastic Press Executive Director
Anthony Whitten spent 12 years teaching high school in northern Virginia where he was the adviser of The Guardian yearbook and The Watchdog newspaper at Westfield High School in Chantilly, Va. He has both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Teaching degree from the University of Virginia. The Guardian yearbook won both the NSPA Pacemaker and two Silver Crowns from CSPA. In 2013, he was selected the JEA Rising Star teacher. He became Executive Director of NWSP in 2016. He can be reached at awhitten@uoregon.edu

Oregon JEA Mentoring Director
Bill Flechtner, retired, Milwaukie High School and Warner Pacific College, in Portland. Flechtner is the former adviser of the MHS yearbook, The Mustang, and student newspaper, The Milwaukian. He was the recipient of the Oregon Journalism Teacher of the Year in 1997 and was awarded the JEA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. He can be reached at bnflech@comcast.net

JEA State Director
J.D. McIntire, Sandy High School, in Sandy. McIntire is the adviser of the Pioneer Press student newspaper and Mee Ma yearbook at SHS. He was the recipient of the 2012 Oregon Journalism Teacher of the Year and has served on the OJEA board as president and past-president.
