Awards

The Oregon Journalism Education Association co-sponsors three annual awards.

The Oregon High School Journalist of the Year is awarded in March. Applications are due February 15. The winner of the JOY receives the Alyce Sheetz scholarship for $1,000.  For more information, view the newJOYflyer and download the StateJOYapp.

The Mary Hartman Oregon Journalism Teacher of the Year is also awarded in March with nominations due February 15. The winner receives a $500 cash award paid for by an endowment from the Hartman family.

The Oregon Rookie Adviser of the Year is also awarded in March with nominations due February 15. The award is open to any publications teacher in the state in their first two years of advising. The winner receives a $250 cash award.
