Congratulations to the winners of the 2020-2021 OJEA Student Media Olympics contest. This year, judges selected 272 award winners across 39 categories. Well done, everyone!

South Salem Senior Wins Oregon Journalist of the Year
Eddy Binford-Ross, a senior at South Salem High School, was named the 2021 Oregon High School Journalist of the Year.
Binford-Ross is now a candidate for the National High School Journalist of the Year sponsored by the Journalism Education Association. The winner of the national award will be named at Spring National High School Journalism Convention later this year.
Skylar Moore, of West Linn High School, was selected as the runner-up.

Welcome to the website for the Oregon Journalism Education Association

Please take a moment to register as a new member by clicking on the button in the toolbar. You will be directed to a registration page and, upon completion and submission of the yearly membership fee, will be granted access to the members portion of the website under the Resources tab. The members portion of the site includes a Forum which enables you to discuss topics with other members and access to Curriculum materials which can be used in the classroom. Members will also be able to vote online for officers during election years.

As a member of OJEA you and your students will also be eligible for our yearly awards: Journalist of the Year, Teacher of the Year and Rookie Teacher of the Year. You will also receive a welcome packet that includes a copy of the OJEA Style Guide, regarded as one of the best journalism style guides for high school students in the nation.

Non-members can still access much of our site including information about the awards, the new teacher mentoring program and upcoming scholastic journalism events in the state.
